Shaping the light using the brushes is a fantastic way to emphasize different elements in the frame and to draw the viewer's eyes to wherever you would like it to go. I also like to use radial filters for this purpose. The trick with both of these is to remember to use a soft feather to make things blend nicely and to build up the effect slowly, as it can be very easy to overdo it.
