Sunsets are wonderful to watch, but they don't inherently make interesting photographs. I recommend trying to find a foreground interest, or some kind of focus for the interest. Rather than photographing the sunset itself, find something that the sunset can add to. That will help give a clear subject, and leave you with less empty space,
