2.49 - "Needs Work"

My wife and I were in Seattle for the weekend (date night) and we had just returned to our hotel from dinner. The weather was quite nice earlier, flip flops kind of day but within a matter of 30 minutes, the skies turned dark and it started to downpour with a little hail and Thunder which sounded like it was right on top of you. We raced to the rooftop patio but had to find shelter in the rooftop elevator lobby. I managed to open a casement window and use a garbage can for a tripod with my Fuji xt2 flip screen to angle the camera towards the space needle. I only had the 35mm f2 lens with me and used the 2 second timer to start taking images. There was a massive amount of lightning strikes that day but this was the only one which struck horizontally accross the sky. This is a single exposure with minimal editing in LR.

lucky shot for sure! But not a big fan of the rooftops and such in the foreground.

Being a born and raised Seattleite, I can say for absolutely certain that Seattle almost NEVER gets storms like this - it's generally too temperate year round for it. Really quite lucky to have captured this moment!
