3.07 - "Solid"

This image is the hero shot from a small series of images of a custom Squier Bullet Stratocaster that I modified, designed, painted and photographed.

I've been playing guitar for well over 20 years. So this was truly a passion project on so many levels. Taking my artistic style, personal brand into consideration.....I set out to create a functional piece of art. I wanted to create something that represented me as an artist and musician as well as something that integrated my commercial photography brand. Something that was uniquely mine.

As I began pursuing this passion project, my first thought was, "what would a "Digital Art That Rocks" Stratocaster look like?" I knew that it had to be creative. It had to reflect the kind of aesthetic qualities that really resonate with me. It had to be unique. It had to be something I was proud to pick up and play. And most importantly, it had to rock!!! So, over a period of about 2 months, I stripped this thing down to bare bones, hot rodded and breathed new life into one of my old guitars that I'm now calling the "Digicaster." (a mashup of my brand name Digital Art That Rocks and the Fender's iconic Stratocaster).

This project really became a full circle moment for me as it was 17 years in the making. I was able to combine the Digicaster electric guitar with my professional life as a commercial photographer and digital artist.

Though the concept of a guitar on fire has certainly been done before, I don't know that it's been done quite to this level of detail. Not only did I design and modify this unique guitar to my own specific requirements, but I also added that extra level of detail that I put into all of the imagery that I create. The hero shot for this series is a composite image (no guitars were harmed). As with all of my work, my process is very methodical, well thought out and produced using imagery and effects that I created myself.

I wrote an entire article about this project on my blog: https://digitalartthatrocks.com/blog/2022/1/20/the-digicaster-photograph...
