1 of a 4 Part series of photos themed to match a local dance studio’s Competition dance routine. I really had to plan my shots carefully in advance. These are youth dancers, so I only had A small window of time during their scheduled dance practice to get the shots needed for their portraits. Also, the entire series of images were edited using ONLY Photoshop for the iPad. The iPad version of Photoshop does not have all of the bells and whistle‘s, but as the app continues to improve I am learning each new feature as it’s added. In time I hope to consider myself an iPad Photoshop expert.

Congratulations to the winners!
The thing that I’m most proud about this image is the highlights behind her head and across her arms and shoulders. I knew I wanted to have lightning streaking across the sky behind her, and I knew that there would be fire around her feet, so I photographed her using two strip soft boxes pointing up from below and directly behind her head across her shoulders. I know that all the green fire around her would probably be casting more green onto her skin, but I still needed to keep her looking pretty for her moms sake, so turning her completely green was out of the question. 😅
Someone gave me a 1 star. Lol.
Yeah. This is a “snap shot”.
Not even worthy of the portfolio. Absolutely no one would want to hire me to do a portrait like this for THEIR kid.😉🤣
These images were custom-made for a dance studio that I do their recital and photo week photography for. Honestly, I really need to go through my website and update the photos. I want my clients to be able to share the images WELL before I ever start using them for promotional purposes. Unfortunately, I usually get caught up in my next project and forget to go back and post the highlights to social media/update the website images.
But I assure you, I am immensely proud of these images. You have to keep in mind, what these images are competing against are traditional team sport portraits. I could have posed these girls on a painted backdrop performing some of their dance moves, and just left it at that. I did do that, but on top of that I made the extra effort to plan these composites In the same amount of time it would has taken me to simply do one more traditional portrait. That’s what makes it a personal project. That… and the fact that these images are what proved to me that I could do all of my editing 100% on my iPad. I store the raw files on my home PC, but other than importing and exporting, I do not edit any photos on my PC. These images were the first that I committed to doing that.
With that said, I guess I’ll go update my website photos now.😁 thx
See, even if people do give my images one stars, submitting my photos has already improved me as a photographer.Worth it.😉👍
Error corrected. Thank you.😁
The entire series has been uploaded. I also added some of my dance photos.
