Midwinter Slovenia travel is more difficult than in the summer season; restaurants and lodging facilities are shuttered, mountain roads closed, and ordinarily accessible places require slogging through snow to reach. On top of this, the country gets precious few hours of light to shoot, which are cut down even further by the mountainous terrain. The tradeoff is empty features and natural beauty, such as here at Slap Pericnek. For a brief window of time, the sunlight shone right through the trees and surrounding valley to hit the waterfall. Focus and exposure bracketed at 35mm, f/8
