Sanctuary of Santa Maria dell'Isola as seen from the walls of Tropea Italy at sunset, surrounded by the Tyrrhenian Sea and with the island of Stromboli on the horizon. Built in the early middle ages by the Basilian monks and transferred to the Benedictines in the early 11th century, and rebuilt after major earthquakes in the eighteenth and early twentieth centuries.
