In 2019, I embarked on a journey of over 1,200 kilometers from Puerto Montt to La Serena, Chile, with one goal in mind: to witness and photograph my first total solar eclipse. For two days, I explored the region, searching for the perfect spot—one that was high enough to avoid the Pacific Ocean's humidity and remote enough to escape the crowds. Finally, I found the ideal location near the town of Andacollo, at an altitude of approximately 1,100 meters.
The wait was worth it; the eclipse turned out to be one of the most spectacular in recent times. The totality occurred at a perfect height, allowing for comfortable observation and an unbeatable photographic capture. This photograph is a single frame from a timelapse I recorded.
