Recently, I had the chance to visit Zeche Zollverein in Essen, Germany, and I couldn’t resist capturing a moment of this iconic site through my lens. Once the largest and most productive coal mine in Europe, Zeche Zollverein was founded in 1847 and played a crucial role in Germany’s industrial growth. Its Bauhaus-inspired design, particularly the famous Shaft 12, showcases a unique blend of form and function. Today, the site is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, transformed into a vibrant cultural center. My photo captures not just a scene but the enduring spirit of this historic landmark.
