I was lucky to be at the spot to take this shot, since I just arrived at Manistee, MI, and went straight to the beach to enjoy the sunset, without knowing if I could get any shots. Fortunately, I did bring my camera, and as the sun started going down, I got an idea to try to catch it behind the lighthouse. I had my 100-400mm lens with me and was far enough to be able to get enough of the scene in the frame. It was a handheld shot, 1/1000s, @345mm, F8, ISO100.
I did edit out a few other people and kept 3 at the end of the pier, which seems to make the scene more interesting.
