This photo was taken in February 2024 in the Lofoten Islands of Norway. I had been co-teaching a landscape photography workshop and added a few days to shoot for myself at the end. I had photographed this area a few times on that trip but hadn't had a beautiful sunrise there. After studying the forecast the previous day, I was hesitant to drive the hour back to this area due to the predicted heavy cloud cover. However, I woke up extra early so I could study the forecasts, and based on the models and radar, it looked like there could be a chance of a cloud break on the horizon. It turned out that I had luck on my side, as the break in the clouds allowed for a very short but beautiful sunrise.
