Had the opportunity to tour a working windmill in Kinderdijk, NL. The windmill was amazing and I took many great photos but this image captured the spirit of the couple who lived and worked in the mill. They were the latest in a long line of family members who worked this windmill, still wearing authentic wooden shoes on a daily basis. The light from a small window on the side of the windmill happened to illuminate the wooden shoes, the closet door, and the wash basin next to them. I shot this in passing hoping for the best. I used a Nikon D750 and a 24-85mm lens at 50mm, 1/640 at f/2, and ISO 400.
