Chefchaouen, Morocco
I had just spent nearly three days in 110-degree heat in the Sahara Desert in eastern Morocco, where I became severely dehydrated and suffered heat exhaustion that made me incredibly ill. After finally arriving in Chefchaouen, where I spent the first 24 hours sleeping, drinking water, sleeping some more, and drinking some more, I was able to venture out to wander the alleys of the beautiful blue medina. I came across this scene, where a lady rounded a corner as a cat watched her, and I watched them both. Just as I lifted my camera to take a photo, a cool breeze blew down from the Riff Mountains behind me, causing a curtain to billow out from a nearby doorway at the moment I pressed the shutter release. It was a surreal but deeply comforting moment.
