I shot this in June at Fire Station 18 in Lennox, CA. I went there to take a group photo of the firefighters there, which was very special to me because I shot my very first portrait at the same station over 30 years ago when I took a beginner's photo class at a local college. When we were done with the group shot, I asked some of the guys if they would like to take individual portraits.

This was a pretty simple set up. I shot it on a Nikon D750 with a Nikon 50mm f1.8 lens and a Godox V-1 flash mounted on a Phottix Raja 85cm Octagonal softbox. The backdrop was a red Kate foldable backdrop. Settings were 1/125sec at f/4 and ISO 100.

Classic - but good. I suspect it would be even better if the subject was looking down the lens.

I'm 6 feet tall. He WAS looking at the lens.
