Comet C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS
Taken 10/23/2024, from Miranda Pines Campground, located in Northern Santa Barbara, California. The fog had rolled in and it was totally overcast 2 hours before sunset this day. If you look closely you can see the fog directly below the comet and in between the ocean and the three lights below this vantage point.
Things I love about this image: the comet and its anti-tail, the fading orange glow of the set sun, the moonlight illuminating the foreground and the dots of light from the planets and stars.
Taken on a Nikon Z6 II, with an adapted 50mm f/1.8G lens at f/1.8, 1 second, ISO 640. Edited in Capture One, with Basic Adjustment sliders, White Balance, Foreground Gradient, a little Burn, and a little horizon color adjustment.
This is a re-edit of the image posted here October 14,2024.
