Pine Warbler with Falling Snow

Photo taken 12/20/2024 with a Canon 5D Mark IV & 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L lens with +1.4x III extender.

On snowy days I often set up my camera on a platypod base at an open first floor window. I'm lucky to have a small first floor room with no thermostat so I can shut the door and let the room get cold to avoid heat distortion from warm and cold air meeting at the window. It makes a great photography blind that is well sheltered from wet weather. I was thrilled to have this gorgeous little Pine Warbler stop by during a recent snowfall. He only paused on the branch for a brief moment but it was long enough to capture one good frame.

Pine Warblers are very tiny, quick moving birds that are a challenge to photograph and this is the best shot I've ever captured of one.
