Dorset has a great concentration of undisturbed ancient woodlands, home to dense carpets of bluebells. In April 2022, I was out photographing the annual display when I heard footseps in the distance. I noticed a roe deer making its way through the forest, getting in and out of the dappled light. At some point it stopped, looked in my direction and I took the shot.
