Journeying through the Masai Mara in Kenya we stopped along this rocky riverbed. Among buffalo and hippo skull and bone decorated stop signs and with vervet monkeys running around us, this vibrantly colored male Mwanza flat-headed rock agama was posing for us. His colors were so unique and beautiful the way he popped out of the neutral toned color scape of the Masai Mara.

Absolutely gorgeous colours. Really interesting that they have a natural contrast to them. Especially since most animals evolve to blend in to their surroundings! Unless it's gross tasting or poisonous, as most brightly coloured animals are.
