Emotions can run high at protests. But in Portland they are also creative and expressive. This photo was taken in front of the ICE facility during an Exercising Our Rights (a pro-democracy group) protest. Protesters dressed in 80’s neon spandex waved signs while doing aerobic workouts to 80’s music. The woman in the photo was immersed in the moment and lost in joy and purpose.

I captured a lot of great moments of this peaceful and communal protest. The challenge was trying to dial in and control all the bright and reflective neon colors!
