November 11, 2004. Backstage at the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco after a Damageplan show. That's Dimebag Darrell — formerly of Pantera and one of the greatest guitar players who ever lived.
I took this photo that night. At the time, Dime and my company were collaborating on clothing designs for a new brand he was launching. We were in the middle of something exciting, something with a future. This night felt like the beginning of something big.
Twenty-seven days later, he was gone.
On December 8, 2004, Dimebag Darrell was shot and killed on stage in Columbus, Ohio. He was 38 years old. This was shot on my first DSLR, a Canon 7D with the kit lens, the biggest challenge was navigating the chaotic backstage environment.
