"Carry On"
I was waiting in a part of the old city of Montpellier, where a splash of sunlight illuminated a street with some beautiful texture. I was actually hoping to get some low angle shots in this location, but when I saw the fringe of short hair on this older man, I thought I might be able to take a shot like this, using the sun to get this kind of rim light on his head. I only had a few seconds to change my exposure settings, and this was the only shot I had time to make, but it came out just as I envisioned it.
To me, this photo conveys, in a sympathetic way, I hope, the weight of years which we all carry, and which gets heavier and heavier as we go on, but we do go on, and there's a quiet strength in that.
