This was a wedding in the heart of Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains. The families had almost all flown in from New York City, which means this was likely the most open space these kids had ever seen in their lives (and the furthest they'd run unsupervised from any adults). I love living in cities, but this experience of just running through fields and exploring the creek (out of frame to the right) is one of my favorite memories of Virginia's more rural counties. I wanted to capture the feeling of carefree adventure you can tap into as a child in such a gorgeous environment, and finding this frame through some porch slats helped create an experience sort of like pulling the curtains back to reveal a scene.
Pretty confident this was shot on my old a7iii and a Tamron 28-75mm f2.8.
