Setting Up a Motion Day-to-Night Traffic Photo Time-Lapse

Photographer Mark Thorpe has made a major course change with his move to Japan, replacing wide open spaces, wildlife, and amazing scenes for the bright lights and sometimes claustrophobic life of mega cities. He's replaced his award-winning images of mass migrations and underwater beauty with his new challenge to document vibrant cityscapes through time-lapse photography and shares his knowledge with other photographers in this new video tutorial.

Thorpe chose Yokohama, Japan as his urban backdrop to explain how to set up and edit a day-to-night traffic time-lapse sequence. He uses the Syrp Genie Mini, which allows the photographer to program and incorporate panning motions in the production. The video takes you through every step from planning to set-up, shooting, and editing of a day-to-night time-lapse. It's relatively short and easy to follow, even if you're not technically inclined. Thorpe explains how and why he selects the location, lens, camera settings as well as how to set up the Syrp Genie Mini.

The editing process is more involved and detailed, but still easy to follow and incorporates the use of LRTimelaspsePro and Adobe Lightroom. You can also head to his blog at his website if you have specific questions or feedback to share.
