From one of my all-nighters in Joshua Tree NP. I wanted to create a "glowing" Joshua Tree in isolation from other surrounding distractions of various boulders and hills, and this is the result. Image details below.
FujiFilm X-T2 and Fuji 16mm F/1.4
Sky = 3 tracked and stacked exposures, (F/2.8, ISO 1600, 4mins).
One base ground exposure, (F/4, ISO 3200, 4mins)
One speedlight exposure behind the tree, (F/2, ISO 800, 1/3rd sec).
Great shot! I think the processing on the sky is perfect, and I like the lit up tree. The one thing I might change is bringing down the exposure on the ground around the tree. I think the tree itself is lit well for a night shot--not too bright, but enough to give some detail and color--but I find my eye settling at the base of the tree and the ground around it more than any of the more interesting aspects of the photo. Again, great work!
I dig it!
nice shot! I agree with Josh..my attention goes straight to the base of the tree.
How do you get so much purple in the milkyway? Is that just post processing or do you use a filter for your sensor/camera?
Beautiful! I love hoes you use the JOSHUA tree shadow to draw you into the focal point of the Milky Way
