Vintage Lens
Another visit to our garden using a vintage lens (Canon FD 50mm f/1.4) on my Canon R5.
"Reaching" - 'Sambucus nigra', as my wife calls it, or Black Lace Elderberry for the rest of us.
Any interest in this group?
Hi all, I was looking for such a group but see that although there are many members there hasn’t been a single post. Is there interest out there in getting this group going?
Vintage Lenses
I thought I would try out my 50 year old lenses: Canon FD 50mm f/1.5 SSC and Canon FD 28mm f/2.8 on my Canon R5 with the use of the appropriate adapter.

Well done Anthony. Maybe a little too much room around the first one (tighter crop maybe?) Great job.
Joseph Anthony --Thanks so much for the response --will consider that on my next assignment.
Good photographs. Looks like your shot was lit with a large softbox camera left with a fill or reflector. Suggestion: depending on the purpose of the photo you might fill the frame with your subject, take both vertical and horizontal shots of your subject and consider moving the subject further to the right or left of the frame. This will give you the option of using the photo for business cards, promotional materials or even a corporate headshot. Good luck to you.
Samuel Coleman Thanks so much for the review and the advice--we work on my framing next time.
I feel that if you had a rim-light behind him, especially with the dark background ones, you would have gotten a better seperation from of the subject from the background.
true---but what do you think with such official headshots? do they need complicated lighting hence the background not that dark compared to black?---wont it change meaning to the portraits? maybe creative portraits?
No, nothing complicated, just a rim light which would illuminate the contours of his head just to make him not blend in with the background. This would make the picture more 3D and less flat.
In this article they have a couple of pictures where you can see just the rim light and it's effect on the subject https://digital-photography-school.com/rim-light-powerful-images-single…
Now I get---thank you for the link---great article
