So.... this little green heron was far away and under cover. This is highly cropped and would only be good for our teaching website or even a brochure. The trouble I have is that he is small, I cant crop any further and the surroundings are busy (see photo 2).
Knowing this, I shadowed out most of the detail around him. Too much? For some reason I think it looks like a museum diorama.
Ps - I'd like to use this because that is a giant bullfrog tadpole he is eating and that is a good teaching point for me.

I think a little. It took me a minute to understand what I was looking for. The overall scene is good, but I Would bring out bird a bit. At first I thought I was looking at a flying fish LOL.

I think even if you are using it for teaching I would go with picture 2 and go the opposite way to bring up the exposure. I think the problem with pic 1 is that half of the bird is not really visible.
