Greg Pierce's picture

Natural Bridge Cave Creek Queensland

Hello all

I'm new to the group so I thought I'd introduce myself with an image from yesterday.

In the middle of a drought, we experienced a one in 100 year rain event where over a month of rain was dumped in two hours. So after the flash flood risk subsided I headed up to the Natural Bridge on Cave Creek. It's a very well photographed location popular with tourists. There was loads of water around and the clouds remained overhead to keep the subject brightness range manageable. It's a bit of a Cliche' view of this location - but I don't think there will be a better day to capture it again for some time. I hope I'm wrong - let it rain!

Good thinking, Greg, to foresee the prospect. I'm not familiar with this place. I guess you're in southern Queensland. Cliché or not, the scene with that torrent and the tonal range make for a good image.

G'day Chris
Thank you for the positive comment. I know Ansel Adams used the term 'pre-visualisation' when applying various photographic controls. I'm trying to think about the weather in the same way.
