Salt Marsh Stream

A photo taken early this year during sunset. I really like the way the s-curve leads to the sun. Too bad the sun wasn't setting a bit more to the left so it would line up better with the water, but the salt marshes are changing constantly so I can't plan it out for next time unfortunately.

All in all an image I am very happy with, and critiques are always welcome!

What a beautiful scene! I think you've done it justice, Patrick.

I see what you mean about the sun, but I think its positioning gives the image a tonal gradient from left to right that adds to it. Looking at the darker left edge, I feel the evening chill, whereas the right side shows nature's glory. Also, for me a more central sun could give the image too much symmetry.

There is still a beautiful pattern in the sinuous water courses, with plenty of contrast to show them to effect Could you edit the image to better suit your vision? Here's a rough idea of what I mean:

Thanks for your comment! I haven't looked at it like you said about the gradient and the different moods in the image. Kind of shows an image doesn't have to be 'perfect' every time. I do like the contrast in the sky and water in your edit better than in mine, though the edges of the water are a bit too dark to my taste (maybe it's my screen which isn't showing me everything).

During editing I already had to boost the contrast a lot in certain areas, because the direct light was just so faint.
Thanks for your insights :)
