I do take a fair amount pictures in the evening. The challenge is that there is a big difference in the amount of light from the ground compare to the amount of light from the sky.
I´m not a big fan og the HDR technique, so I often ends up under exposing to get details in the sky and clouds. In post prosess I bring forward details in the sky and clouds, and lighten the ground. I think this is good better technique, but there is times where HDR is the only solution. A camera with good dynamic range delivers raw files that are excellent to work with in post prosess.
Here are an example of how the raw file looks imported to photoshop, and the result after post processing to get a similar feel as from the real scene.
