I don't post on FStoppers very often, because most of my photographs are just average, but every once in a while I get a good one. Here is a shot from earlier this year at Tangled Creek in Yellowstone. The fog lasted only about 20 minutes, but it was surreal. This is a 5 shot bracket combined in PS. C&C welcome.
Excellent! I love the mystery of the distant, "fading" trees on the left side.
Thanks Charles. It turned out way better than I expected!
If only we experienced that more often, rather than the reverse, Tom!
You're modest, Tom. Perhaps you ought post more. This one's excellent. Something of a dreamlike atmosphere. I love the composition, that amazing glow - everything about it! Very well done.
Thanks Chris! Someone once said, “If you want to take better photographs, stand in front of interesting stuff.” That certainly applies here!
It might be perception. Even before digital, great photographers have always taken tons of photos yet only show the very few great ones.
I really like it. Strong image. Works really well in mono. Very atmospheric. Love to see it in colour by way of comparison as well. I would be delighted to have captured it myself.
Thanks Chris. Glad you like it. The overall scene combined with the back lighting made for very little color. Mono all the way on this one for me.
I can feel the cold air blowing…
Fortunately there was no wind. It was already about -15degF without it!
Quite surreal. It feels as though this landscape shouldn’t exist. I would say cinematic.
It didn’t exist very long, only about 20min. I was on a photo tour and we stumbled across this scene. The guide pulled over and told us to work fast because it wasn’t going to last very long. Right place, right time.
Stand in front of interesting things, indeed!
Great photo. The lack of human tracks puts it over the edge. Nice work
