Sydney Rock Pools: Photography Project. Shot list tips? Prep ideas?

There are over 34 rock pools in Sydney that are open year-round and free for public use. I really want to start a photo project where I capture about three shots of each and maybe put together a zine to share with friends and family.

Originally, I planned to take one drone shot, one wide-angle shot, and one shot capturing people around the pool, but due to some unforeseen circumstances, I had to sell most of my camera gear and am now left with just my drone. I’m still keen to continue the project – should be some fun flying weekends over the next few months.

I’m looking for some advice on the type of drone shots that would work well if I end up making a small zine. One idea I had was to use a vertical bird's-eye view image taking up the full page on the left, with the right page split into a paragraph section featuring some history of the rock pool and a vertical shot showing more of the surrounding area. Each rockpool is near a beach so maybe one shot could be of the accompanying beach, but some beaches have multiple pools so I will need to figure out how to section each pool.

Some of these pools are a two-hour bus ride away, so I’d like to plan a set of shots in advance to make the most of each trip. Quite hyped about this idea should be good fun. I’d really appreciate any thoughts on preparation, shot lists, or anything else that might help!
