I think it looks great the way it is. You could burn it a touch, but I think it might ruin the ambiance if it's too dark. I don't find it a distraction at all.
I agree with Tom's ambiance comment. If you darken the trees, it will take some of that away. The background is well balanced but not intrusive. I'd leave it alone.
