White Slab under Eden Falls

I was working as Artist in Residence in Buffalo National River in Arkansas when I came to this location. This is a very interesting part of the National Parks in the US, and I was so fortunate to be selected. One of the things I remember most clearly is that even though the mountains are nowhere as elevated as the Rocky Mountains, for instance, they are extremely steep, much steeper than most of the Rockies where I have backpacked. A hike of just a few miles here is much more tiring than hikes in the Rockies. Also, ticks are a huge problem. When I got back to the cabin where they had me situated I had more than 10 ticks attached. An old hillbilly stopped to talk and i told him about the ticks. He kind of laughed and told me that if I would go into Springdale, the nearest city of any kind and go to the "Walmarts" there and get one tick and flea collar for each leg I wouldn't have ticks any more. He was right, of course. I used a Toyo 45A camera, a 90mm Sinaron lens and no filter. The image was created using Kodak Tri-X Professional rated at 200ASA.
