I personally think these are some of the most elegant flowers there are. What's crazy is that people in my area pay big bucks for them for wedding arrangements and they grow wild all along the northern coast of California. I have seen them in great profusion in places including these along the coast line north of San Francisco. I think everything about them is graceful and elegant. Just a gorgeous presence. I used a Toyo 45A with a 150mm Sinaron lens and Kodak T-Max 100 film. What is amazing is that the exposure was something like 50 seconds at f-32 and everything is the Calla Lilies is sharp except for the tip of one on the leaves which has a very slight blur due to movement. I had resisted working on this negative for many years for several reasons but had worked on a digital version of the image which I quite liked. What really got me though is that as much as I like the digital version, the film version has a much smoother tonality in the highlights than the digital one. Maybe it's because I have so many years experience working with film and not so much experience with digital. I surely am willing to learn, but in this case the tonality in the extreme whites is just much cleaner.
