Encino Supercell, Encino, New Mexico

I was driving back from Montana and had been watching this storm, as it was building, as I left Santa Fe coming south. Around Clines Corners I realized that it might actually form into a significant storm. At a point, just north of Encino, New Mexico I could actually look up into the center of the storm system. Realizing that these storms usually move from southwest to northeast, and that it was moving away from my position, I felt safe in stopping and making photographs. All I had to do was to move to a position where the elements would make the composition that I felt would work for me. I used a Canon 6D camera with a Canon 17-40L lens with a UV filter on the front of the lens.
