The Guardian, la Mision San Francisco de Assis

I was in Taos New Mexico at the end of January a few years ago. There were a few inches of snow on the ground from a recent storm and it was icy cold. I had set up for this image with my Hasselblad 500Cm and a 50mm Sonnar lens. I was about to make the exposure when this gigantic German Shepherd Dog walked up to me and licked my hand, then he went over and sat down just as if I had posed him. Fortunately I had attached the cable release, zeroed out my tripod and set the camera for the exposure. The dog pulls the whole composition together for me. I love dogs! Hasselblad 500Cm with an 80mp Leaf back, 50mm Sonnar lens. I used a mild yellow filter on the lens. The conversion to black and white was done in Photoshop. No apps were injured in the creation of this image.

PS the dog was watching his mom as she walked into the residence just across the road from the church. She explained to me that he was a Giant German Shepherd and she had a litter due if I was interested. Sorry, I had a houseful of dogs already.
