I had been teaching a workshop for film photographers in Northern Montana for the Photographers Formulary. I had seen this little patch of ferns the night before, so I rolled out of the sack at 0530 to be here, make my photographs and be back for the last mornings session at 0800. I was fortunate to find this little vignette when I did. The sun would come over the mountain ridge behind me and the light would be a disorganized mess. Unusual for me, I used a Canon 6D camera with a 24-105L lens. All conversion to black and white was done using Photoshop. No apps were injured in the creation of this image.
