Storm Over Ushguli

The village of Ushguli in the Svaneti region of Georgia, one of the highest continuously inhabited settlements in Europe at 2,200 metres. Medieval Svan defensive towers rise above a cluster of stone houses as a heavy storm rolls in from the Greater Caucasus peaks. A glacial river threads through the valley floor to the right. The towers have stood here since the 9th century; the storm didn't care.
