Red Sandstone Falls — Valle de Pineta, Ordesa

A waterfall over Triassic red sandstone formations in the Valle de Pineta, Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park, Huesca. The iron-rich rock gives the whole canyon its distinctive pink-red colouration — something I wasn't expecting in the Pyrenees. Long exposure to render the water as smooth contrast against the hard rock texture. The challenge was the dappled light through the canopy above — it kept creating blown patches on the rock face, so I waited for cloud cover to even the exposure out. The colour range in this frame — red stone, white water, dark green canopy, grey sky — is the main reason it works.
