The Eureka Moment

We all know that feeling when we've been struggling to come up with something new, something innovative, something creative... and then from the most unlikely of sources, inspiration strikes... and the lightbulb in our mind pops into life - It's the Eureka moment!

This still life image was created as a visual representation of the birth of an idea.

The light bulb was shot against a white background with a gelled light behind the background. This allowed the glass of the bulb to be lit using white light, but the light being transmitted through the bulb to be red. Using separate subject & background lights allows great control over the lighting.
The wording was added in post using a custom brush to produce the look of a filament.
All other aspects (background and shadows etc) were added in post.
