Smith Rock

Just an hour east of the snow-covered Mt. Bachelor, the terrain and climate changes to dramatic buttes and parched rocks. Despite spending the entire day hiking through the Smith Rock park, the view from the park entrance turned out to be the best angle. From this perspective, the park is covered with M-curves: the river, hiking trail, and even skyline echo the same “M” shape.

The only element missing was foreground — luckily, there was a dead tree branch that needed only a foot of coaxing to play the part.

I shot and blended 3 bracketed exposures after twilight.
