Nevada Sky

I was super excited about my first trip to a desert atmosphere with my camera. I was staying in Vegas so naturally my first stop was Red Rock Canyon. After hiking some trails the sun began to set and I decided on this composition for sunset, because it has so much diversity in it both in lighting and nature. My camera wasn't able to capture all of the dynamic lighting, so I used a 5 shot exposure bracketing technique I learned from Elia Locardi. This did the trick and I was able to capture all of the light without blowing anything out. I shot this on my Canon 5DS at 35mm F/11. Hope you guys enjoy.

Nice colors

Thank you! I was thinking the exact same thing. I don't get that type of color here on the East Coast.

I have some shots taken in Death Valley but I couldn't capture the colors like I wanted. Going to borrow your technique next time.

It worked out really well for me. I found that the dynamic range in desert landscapes are much more drastic with the lack of forest than what I was use too.
