This was taken from Zabriskie Pt. at Death Valley. I got in close because I wanted the image to express the light, shadows and texture of this beautiful formation. Just standing there with the realization that I was observing many million years of history was awe inspiring. From the start, I knew that I wanted to express the image as a black & white capture to emphasize the abstract elegance of the scene.
