Poplar Trees & Rocks, Dades Valley Morocco

The rocks in the Dades Valley, are a series of rugged gorges carved out by the Dadès River in Morocco. The river originates in the High Atlas range of the Atlas mountains, The walls of the gorges range anywhere from 200 to 500 meters (650 to 1600 feet). Throughout the valley the rocks are fronted by beautiful white poplar trees. Catching the scene in the morning sunlight offers a beautiful landscape.

Ed, very interesting and super detailed … yea! F/16 (and smaller) power to small apertures!

Thanks Peter. Don't get too thrilled by the small aperture. I took this with the Fujifilm GFX 100S which is a medium format camera. Because it has a larger sensor, it requires a smaller aperture to achieve the same DOF as a full frame. So, if you shot this on a full frame, you could get away with f11 or f8. The same thing is true about the lenses. E.g. a 100mm lens on a medium format is equal to an 80mm on a full frame. As you can imagine you're trading depth of field and lens reach for a higher resolution. And yes, diffusion kicks in on anything past f16.

I figured you were shooting medium format and have a good understanding of the various formats in the analog realm and still learn new stuff concern digital sensors.
"And yes, diffusion kicks in on anything past f16." Is this a constant or half truth. Or does lens diffusion depend more on lens design, lighting conditions etc., etc. I know a discussion could go on for hours, days, ruin friendship, and on, and on. But you know when if ever have you heard a member of f/64 bitch about lens diffusion. Personally I think it's a myth perpetrated / exaggerated by modern lens manufactures especially those of zoom lenses. See now you got me going. But any who I pass your reply on to Peter the next time I see him ;)

Sorry bout that…. I can’t even remember my wife’s name. I can’t help myself about data dumps …. No harm meant
