Heron on a perch.

I visited Lake Mattamuskeet Wildlife preserve in search of Tundra Swans. Upon entering the park, I observed this Great Blue Heron perched in an old nest. It was backlit. In fact, the lighting provided an interesting contrast of shadow and rim lighting with the wetlands faded in the background. The lighting transitioned the scene from a typical "bird picture" to something "more compelling".

Nicely done! Ed, is this NC version of Punxsutawney Phil ;) Happy Spring to all!

Ha ha ha ha ha,,,, The Blue Heron is out terrorizing fish 12 months per year. They mate in early spring; then the couples divorce and fine new mates the next spring.....
