Desert Evening Primrose, Escalante Branch. We were camped in the Escalante Branch of Lake Powell in Utah. These beautiful little flowers were out in profusion, so much so that at night it looked like it had snowed. There were so many that it was hard to actually build a composition that showed just a couple of blooms. These were nestled in a bed of Broomweed, which set up a perfect textural background for them. They come out only at night and with the first ray of sunlight in the morning they begin to wilt off, and when the air warms up they seem to just melt. Of course, in the desert in late spring in souther Utah it will probably get up to nearly 100, so we kind of melted too. Toyo 45A Camera, 135mm Nikkor, UV-15 filter, Kodak E-100G film.
