This was a difficult image to execute. I knew that at some point the unfiltered light of the sun would streak through the sky between the clouds, the the face of this mountain would be in direct sunlight to contrast it against the open shade caused by cloud cover in those areas. The trick was to get direct sunlight and a cloud pattern that did what I wanted. So setting up the camera, getting it focused and a composition that I liked was the first step, then the long wait until I got what I wanted, expose the film, flop the film holder and repeat.
