One thing that I found particularly useful, which I never knew about, was the ability to change the size of the layer thumbnails! I rename my layers to make them more descriptive and easier to keep track of, but it is still really beneficial to see the masks so I can understand exactly where different edits are applied at a glance. Unfortunately, with my terrible eyesight, the smaller thumbnails are harder to see, but I just switched to the largest thumbnail of the three options, and lo and behold, things are far, far better!
