Adobe has made Lightroom Mobile available on iPhone, and has managed to keep all aspects of the software intact despite the much reduced screen size. The application works exactly the same as the iPad app, just on the smaller profile of your iPhone.
As a recap, Lightroom Mobile offers...
- Seamless sync with Lightroom 5. Edit and organize your images anywhere, anytime using your iPad or iPhone. Lightroom mobile automatically syncs your work with Lightroom 5 on your desktop.
- From snapshots to raw. Edit everything from smartphone photos to raw images from DSLRs using Smart Previews. Lightroom mobile can handle virtually any image format.
- Camera roll compatible. Import images from your iPhone or iPad camera roll straight into your Lightroom catalog. Enhance them using familiar and powerful Lightroom tools. Share them online quickly and easily.
- Share edited images to your social networks. Share directly from Lightroom on your mobile device.
- Showcase your images. Present photos with built-in slideshow.
- View your images online at Lightroom.Adobe.com
Adobe has also added a starring feature to both the iPhone and iPad apps, which is handy for when you're culling through images.
No Android?
Unfortunately no, and they didn't give any timeline for an Android release.
Yeah, nothing like making critical editing decisions to raw data of high resolutions files on a 10-, 7-, or 5-inch uncalibrated screen. Maybe do so outdoors in bright sunlight at your favorite local park. On the swings. Or maybe while rocking on the horsey...
OR, just ORRRR realize that its not an editing tool and more of a companion to lightroom. Do you carry a laptop with you where ever you go? how do you show someone on the fly the work you're currently engrossed with? Luckily, not everyone isnt as critical as you.
Dude, you can do that with a JPEG.
How do you get them on your phone without using multiple programs? Who says these are raw photos they are downloading?
I think you should look into this before spouting off. Tell me exactly the compression method used to deliver pictures to the device because if like to know what can download 25mb files in 1 second.
Have you even used this before? I can sync 2000 files in about 40 min. Definitely now raws...
Easy. Shoot RAW+JPEG. It's a setting inside your camera. Try it. Before spouting off...
Youre right, im wrong. Please share how you sync those jpegs easily and seamlessly to your mobiles devices thru lightroom. Im interested to hear as im sure a lot of people are. You seem to be the expert that Adobe needed to hire before integrating this into lightroom. I have also used Photosmith to perform the same function. It didnt do it when i wasnt on the same network, this does. Do you have a better alternative?
You can use any app you want to crunch JPEGs, you don't need LR. The main point I'm making here is that unfortunately people are going to start making decisions on a tablet, or worse, a phone. But I guess it doesn't really matter anymore.
Valid point and yes, you dont need to use LR to view jpegs. I personally think it makes my life easier and the delivery and ability to do ratings directly to LR thru the app any where i am make it convenient. It also creates a nice portable book if you sync your featured images. Doesnt take up room on your device and you can view multiple synced catalogs without having to have a computer near by.
If you havent already, give it a try and see if it does anything for you. You might be surprised.
oh!!!maybe i don't understand well...i mean so i can shoot and i i have connect my camera i can see in real time my shot?
i don't understand if i can connect my camera (D700 no WiFi)to the I phone / pad and check live directly my shot?!?!?
Hi Luca, it's not a tethering app. Just a culling/editing one.
