A Review of the Nikon Nikkor Z 600mm f/4 TC VR S Lens

At over $15,000, the Nikon Nikkor Z 600mm f/4 TC VR S sits at the very top of the lens mountain in terms of price, but does it also bring performance and image quality to match? This great video review takes an in-depth look at the lens and if it can justify that massive price tag.

Coming to you from Jan Wegener, this awesome video review takes a look at the Nikon Nikkor Z 600mm f/4 TC VR S lens. Such lenses are typically used by sports and wildlife photographers, where the need for a lot of reach in tandem with fast shutter speeds necessitates the combination of a wide aperture and extreme focal length. What makes this lens especially intriguing is that it also contains a built-in 1.4x teleconverter, allowing it to transform into an 840mm f/5.6 lens in an instant. While you can always use external teleconverters, having an internal teleconverter provides two distinct advantages. First, it is far quicker, making it useful for capturing action in the moment. Second, internal teleconverters are specifically designed for the lenses to which they are paired, which means they generally offer better image quality than an external option. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Wegener.

I shoot with the Z9, paired with one of the best pro telephoto zoom lenses there is for that system: the 180-400mm f/4E TC1.4x.

This lens is one I'm dying to try out though.

Yeah, I think this lens is going to be a huge boon for Nikon. I know several Canon shooters thinking about switching brands for it alone since it performs so much better than the Canon version of this lens with a 1.4TC on it and does it in a smaller, lighter form factor.

The 180-400TC is an incredible lens. What's also amazing is the 400 4.5Z existing.

Lets hypothetically say you had to start all over.. Would you still buy the 180-400 over the 400mm 4.5Z and the Z 1.4TC?

In the thumbnail image of the video why is he pointing at the lens, does he think we cant see it or does the description in the header not tell us enough about what the product actually is even though it says 600mm LENS.

Because there are fuckwits like you.
